Be The Exception

Understanding markets better doesn’t mean

you have to change

the way you sell your grain.

It just means you're more effective when you do.

I am focused on sharing what I have learned throughout my career to provide farmers with a better understanding of how the market works and how they can get the most out of it.

I have over 40 years of experience in the Canadian agri-food industry as a trader (both cash and futures/options), a commodity exchange administrator, agri-business consultant and as a risk management specialist.  I have extensive experience in commodity pricing and risk management, grain merchandising and processing, grain handling, and transportation issues and policies.  Much of my consulting work has been addressing price transparency, risk management issues and solutions in agricultural commodities and infrastructure issues such as commodity logistics and value chain linkages.

I have a particular interest in market efficiencies - those we don't have and could, and those that we do have, and need to keep.  The lack of price transparency in our grain markets is an issue worth paying attention to, as are issues related to transportation and competition.  When I'm not helping farmers directly, I work behind the scenes, doing what I can to get the changes we need.

                                                                      Cheers,

                                                                      John De Pape
